Monty Python and the Holy Grail
King Arthur and his squire Patsy travel around Britain in AD 932 in quest of knights to enlist in the Knights of the Round Table. Arthur questions if swallows might transport coconuts, travels through a plague-ridden village, tells two anarcho-syndicalist peasants that he received Excalibur from the Lady of the Lake, vanquishes the Black Knight, and witnesses a spontaneous witch trial. Together with their squires and Robin’s minstrels, he enlists Sir Bedevere the Wise, Sir Lancelot the Brave, Sir Galahad the Pure, Sir Robin the Not-Quite-So-Brave-as-Sir-Lancelot, and the aptly called Sir Not-Appearing-in-this-Film. After leading the knights to Camelot, Arthur had a change of heart and calls the land “a silly place” following a musical performance. God comes as they are turning away, giving Arthur the task of locating the Holy Grail…………..
The Big Lebowski
In 1991, two enforcers for porn baron Jackie Treehorn, to whom a different Jeffrey Lebowski’s wife owes money, attack slacker and ardent bowler Jeffrey “The Dude” Lebowski in his Los Angeles home. Before both enforcers decide they have the incorrect man and go, one urinates on the Dude’s rug.
The Dude meets wealthy philanthropist Jeffrey Lebowski, aka “the big Lebowski,” and requests payment for the rug after consulting his bowling pals, Vietnam veteran Walter Sobchak and fall guy Donny Kerabatsos. Lebowski objects, but the Dude coaxes his helper Brandt into allowing him to remove a like rug from the estate. He meets Bunny, the trophy wife of Lebowski, and Uli, her German nihilist friend, outside………….

Annie Walker is a Milwaukee-based, unmarried, underachieving, and unfortunate lady in her mid-thirties. The recession caused her bakery to fail, wiping out her funds and forcing her lover to break up with her. She no longer bakes with the same enthusiasm, works a demanding, low-paying job at a jewelry store, and lives in an apartment with her annoying British immigrant siblings, Gil and Brynn. Ted, a conceited and affluent man, treats Annie like an object in their casual sexual relationship. Her greatest friend of a lifetime, Lillian, is the one positive influence in her life. Annie is asked to be Lillian’s maid of honor after she becomes engaged to her lover Doug………………………
Groundhog Day
On February 1, Phil Connors, a television meteorologist, tells Pittsburgh viewers that Western Pennsylvania will escape an impending blizzard. For his yearly coverage of Groundhog Day celebrations, Phil heads to Punxsutawney with cameraman Larry and new producer Rita Hanson. He declares that he would shortly be leaving his station for a new job, making no secret of his disdain for the assignment, the little town, and the locals, who he views as “hicks.”
On February 2, Sonny & Cher’s “I Got You Babe” starts playing on the clock radio when Phil wakes up in the Cherry Street Inn. He reports on Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog, and the festivities with a hint of bitterness. In contrast to what he had predicted, a blizzard hits the area, blocking all movement out of Punxsutawney. He is forced to stay overnight in the town despite his best efforts to find a way out………………….
Singin’ in the Rain
Silent cinema actors Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont attend the premiere of The Royal Rascal, their most recent picture, in 1927. The movie studio Monumental Pictures feeds into the notion that Don and Lina are in love. Although Lina thinks Don loves her, Don detests the rumors and seldom tolerates her. Don recounts his ascent to fame in a red carpet interview. Don claims to have grown up well-educated and sophisticated, but flashbacks reveal his lowly beginnings as a hoofer, vaudeville performer, and stuntman, working alongside Cosmo Brown, his boyhood best friend (“Fit as a Fiddle”).
Following the premiere, Don uses his leap into a passing car driven by Kathy Selden to get away from a crowd of his fans. Don is driven to the premiere’s afterparty by Kathy, who introduces herself as a theatrical actor but shows contempt for the film acting profession. R. F. Simpson, the head of Monumental Pictures, gives a brief demonstration of the recently discovered talking image at the afterparty………….
