A man comes begins to have nightmares where he experiences things in sleep have an effect on him in real life, too. But as his derangement spreads across his family and friends, they decide to go to the root of the cause.
Synopsis:
The plot of the 2019 Tamil horror film “Conjuring Kannappan” centers on a family who live in a haunted bungalow in the hills of Nilgiris.
A young guy finds a cursed artifact that causes him to be taken to a ghost palace each night he sleeps in. Can he free his family and himself from the spirits imprisoned there?
The main character of the movie is Kannappan, also known as KP (Sathish), a game creator in dire need of employment. His mother Lakshmi (Saranya Ponvannan), father Anjanenjan (VTV Ganesh), who is retired, an aspiring YouTuber, and his useless uncle Sekar (Namo Narayanan) make up his family. He unintentionally becomes the cursed dream catcher’s victim when he comes across this enigmatic instrument. And the apparatus takes him to a 1930s opulent mansion haunted by two spirits from Britain. Even if he can leave when he wakes up in the real world, everything that occurs there will also have an impact on him. Thus, should he die there, he will also perish here!
The Family and the Haunting:
After his late uncle passes away, simpleton Kannappan inherits the ancient home. He moved in with Parvathi, his spouse, and Meenakshi, their little child.Soon, the family is plagued by odd happenings. Things start moving on their own, there are unsettling murmurs, and Meenakshi acts strangely—she even claims to have seen a ghost named “Rosa.”
At first dismissive, Kannappan grows more worried as the hauntings get stronger. He turns to a local tantric for assistance, and she recognizes Rosa as the ghost of a young woman who was harmed by the bungalow’s former owner.
Unearthing the Past:
The terrible past is revealed through flashbacks and Rosa’s ethereal connection. The owner’s son cherished Rosa, who worked as a servant at the cottage. But Rosa was cruelly murdered by the ruthless mistress of the house, who, filled with envy, had her set up for theft.
In an effort to bring Rosa some closure, Kannappan sets out to find the truth and clear her. He is opposed by the bungalow’s present caretaker, who is in league with the former mistress’s ghost.
Confrontation and Resolution:
Under the tantric’s direction, Kannappan follows rites to placate Rosa and reveal the truth. A tense confrontation occurs when he confronts the caretaker after finding hidden proof that proves Rosa’s innocence.Rosa’s ghost seeks retribution from the former mistress when she confronts her in the climax. Kannappan steps in and begs for reconciliation and forgiveness.Rosa lets go of her rage and accepts her fate after seeing how pointless her retaliation would be. With a sense of relief, she bids Kannappan and Meenakshi farewell, freeing the family from the hauntings.
