With Vishal and SJ Suryah in the key roles, filmmaker Adhik Ravichandran’s upcoming movie, “Mark Antony,” got underway with a pooja in the city on Thursday.
S Vinod Kumar, who previously produced Vishal’s “Enemy,” is producing “Mark Antony,” which will be the actor’s 33rd movie.
Mini Studios is financing Mark Antony through Vinod.
In this Mark Antony, Ritu Verma and Vishal will be starring together for the first time. Nizhalgal Ravi and Sunil Verma also have significant roles.
The film has music composed by GV Prakash Kumar, editing by Vijay Velukutty, and cinematography by Abhinandan Ramanujam.
The film’s stunts are being directed by renowned directors Kanal Kannan, Peter Hein, and Ravi Varma, while production design is being handled by Umesh Rajkumar.
Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada, and Hindi are the five languages in which Mark Antony will be released as part of a pan-Indian effort.
PLOT
Scientist Chiranjeevi created a telephone in 1975 that allows users to call persons in the past by choosing a certain date, albeit there is a limit of one call per selected day. Meanwhile, in Chennai, gangsters Antony and Jackie Pandian are great friends and share a shared enemy in Ekambaram, another thug. Ekambaram kills Antony at a club as retaliation for Antony killing his brother, and in the process, Chiranjeevi also perishes. Mark, Antony’s kid, is taken in by Jackie, who quickly rises to prominence as the lone kingpin.
Mark, a Royapuram mechanic in 1995, despises Antony since he killed his mother Vedhavalli. When Mark comes upon Chiranjeevi’s phone one day, he realizes he has the ability to change history by making calls to the past. Mark quickly learns that Jackie, the real mastermind behind the killings of Antony and Vedhavalli, led Mark to believe that Antony was a nasty man because Antony refused to participate in Jackie’s illicit enterprises, which included prostitution, drug smuggling, and the trafficking of weapons. By making calls to the past, Mark is able to alter history and bring Jackie’s death.
When Mark awakens in the present, Jackie’s son Madhan is in Mark’s position as a mechanic, and Mark is in Jackie’s place as a mobster. Madhan quickly finds out about the phone and Mark’s role in altering the past, which he tells Jackie. In the ensuing cat-and-mouse game, Jackie tries multiple times to kill Antony, but Antony escapes each time and discovers Jackie’s actual goals. At the club, Antony is surrounded by Jackie and his men, and it appears that he is killed. Once more, Mark awakens in the present, when he is a mechanic and Jackie is still alive.
Ramya, Mark’s girlfriend, is abducted by Madhan, who then invites her to the club godown. When Mark gets there, Madhan and Jackie’s men start beating him up. When Antony gets to the godown, however, it is revealed that Ekambaram sent him to Colombia after repeatedly encountering and killing gangsters by the police. Antony was saved by Ekambaram during the club gunfight. Because Jackie typically transferred commission to the gangsters using Antony’s name, Antony was able to secure the cooperation of the Colombian underworld. Using his covert tool, the Anaconda, Antony eliminates every one of Jackie’s goons at the godown before taking down Jackie and Madhan. After rejoining Mark, Antony phones Vedhavalli from earlier. who is both being held at gunpoint by Jackie and Chiranjeevi, who wants his phone back.
